Job Summary:
The technician makes decisions affecting own their work within set parameters. Works both independently on work assignments and as a team member at customer sites. Accountable for quality and accuracy of own output.
Essential Function:
- Execute work orders-related to deployment or first line maintenance scope on network or end customer sites for both telecom and infrastructure equipment according to scope of work, drawings and specifications, planning/service level agreements and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot network problems
- Handle/manage customer Incident and requests
- Configure network equipment to include but not limited to basic routing & switching, base and port configurations using standard operating procedures/checklists
- Support network project installations which will including creating change documentation, implementation and cable matrixes and network drawings
- Attend customer program/project meetings and provide updates on network progress as appropriate
- Direct physical touch resources on what/where to deliver network equipment, and report back to project team or others
- Direct physical touch resources on cabling needs for network equipment including proper cable labelling, installation, and more
- Receives, scans, and inventories equipment.
- Read, understand, and follow product information, job specifications, drawings and wiring instructions/diagrams for the installation and maintenance of equipment.
- Installs infrastructure systems such as auxiliary framing, cable rack, fiber duct and conduit.
- Run cabling in the infrastructure system. Able to stitch cable, form wiring, and dress cabling in a professional manner.
- Install equipment per the instructions included in work orders and other documents.
- Support and perform necessary tests, measurements or analysis using appropriate tools/equipment.
- Manage spare and removed parts appropriately as identified in the work orders or by the appropriate authority.
- Completes work order and provides daily end of shift report to manager.
- Request support from appropriate interface in case of any complex issues such as advanced testing procedures or service protection/restoration.
- Provide clear verbal and written job status reporting/updates to managers and customers within specified timeframes
- Follow/apply company and local health and safety and environmental regulations and rules.
- Takes on-call duties for first line maintenance services when requested.
Recommended Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in using a laptop computer, cell phone with various industry specific applications, test sets, includingfiber scope, fiber cleaning kits, test phones, volt/amp meters and more.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable and proficient in working independently with occasional direct supervision.
- Effectively communicates directly with customers and customer’s contractors.
- Performs routine tasks of low to moderate complexity requiring limited discretion and judgment.
- Perform tasks/activities according to assignment and set guidelines.
- Moderate degree of supervision and coaching provided.
- Demonstrates initiative and is adaptable to changing business environments.
- Able to write, hear, understand, and respond appropriately to verbal requests made in person and over the telephone in English
- Ability to travel between job sites and material depots
- Occasional overnight travelrequired
- Must be willing to workdays/nights/weekends and be on-call depending on project demands
Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements:
- Required – High School Diploma
- Preferred – Associates Degree or 1-2 years of equivalent training and experience
- Preferred – OSHA 10 Certified; required OSHA 10 certification within 30-60 days of hire
- Required – Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift, move or shift up to 60 lbs. or more weight if in conjunction with another individual required
- Able to carry, set up and climb an 8-feetor less A-frame ladder is required
- Able sit, stand, stoop, and drive amotor vehicle, sometimes for long distances
- Able to work in indoor and outdoor climate condition
Technical Skills:
- Required – Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- IEEE 202.3 Ethernet Switching
- TCP/IP Networking
- Routing – BGP, OSPF
- VLAN
- Subnetting
- Layer 1 Cabling detail – copper and fiber
- Arista product or Cisco product experience and working experience with their products and working experience with their products
